WKQK began broadcasting in Cocoa Beach in 1959 as WRKT, "Rocket Radio."
In the early 1960s, the station was upgraded so that
its broadcast signal would reach almost all of Brevard County.
WKQK is one of the last locally owned and operated
commercial broadcast stations left in Brevard County.
The station is owned and operated by Brevard's local small business
321 Corporation.
